## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON MARCH 24, 1996, AT 1557C, A BEECH B35 BONANZA, N5121C, OPERATED BY MR. SIDNEY A. TATUM, WAS BEING FLOWN FROM ZAPATA, TEXAS, TO LAREDO, TEXAS ON A FLIGHT TO DEMONSTRATE THE AIRCRAFT FOR A POSSIBLE SALE. THE FLIGHT RESULTED IN A GEAR UP LANDING AT LAREDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, LAREDO, TEXAS. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND THERE WAS NO FLIGHT PLAN FILED. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO MR. TATUM OR HIS PASSENGER. MR. TATUM HOLDS A PRIVATE PILOTS CERTIFICATE. A CHARGING SYSTEM FAILURE IS SUSPECTED AS THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER BOTH STATED THAT THE FLAPS WOULD NOT FUNCTION AND THE RADIO WAS UNUSABLE. BOTH STATED THAT ALL CIRCUIT BREAKERS WERE IN. A MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT WILL BE SUBMITTED WHEN THE CAUSE IS DETERMINED. THIS OFFICE CONSIDERS THIS INCIDENT CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
