## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT CRASHED ON LANDING. (.4)THE PILOT WAS ON A ROUND TRIP PERSONAL FLIGHT AROUND THE LAKE GEORGE GLACIER AREA. DURING THE FLIGHT HE ELECTED TO LAND ON AN UNIMPROVED AIRSTRIP NEAR THE BASE OF THE KNIK GLACIER. DURING HIS OVERFLIGHT OF THE LANDING AREA HE ESTIMATED THE SNOW TO BE HARD PACKED AND 1 TO 2 INCHES DEEP. UPON LANDING THE AIRPLANE ROLLED ABOUT 95 TO 110 FEET AND THEN NOSED OVER. THE PILOT LATER ESTIMATED THE SNOW TO BE 4 INCHES DEEP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC96LA038](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC96LA038), Mar 26, 1996: Taylorcraft BC12D (N39966), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's selection of an unsuitable area for landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
