## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 26, MARCH 96 AT APPROXIMATELY 1835L, WHILE CROSSING RENO/TAHOE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, A CAREFLIGHT MD-900 HELICOPTER PILOTED BY TERRY REID CERTIFICATE #235747612 REQUESTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING BECAUSE OF AN OVER TEMPERATURE INDICATION ON THE #2 ENGINE WHICH NEEDED TO BE SHUT DOWN IN FLIGHT. THE ROTORCRAFT MADE A RUNNING LANDING ON A GRAVEL SURFACE PARALLEL TO TAXIWAY LIMA SLIDING 30 FEET WITH NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE TO THE ROTORCRAFT. THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM WAS TRACED TO A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS. THIS INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED. INCIDENT DOES NOT INVOLVE A PILOT DEVIATION REPORT FORM 8020-17.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
