## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N292RG, TBM-700, DEPARTED RICE LAKE, WI. AIRPORT WITH THE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER, ON A PROPOSED VFR FLIGHT TO MILWAUKEE, WI. AFTER TAKEOFF, AND THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED, THE PILOT NOTICED A GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RECYCLE THE GEAR, AND TRIED ADDING G-FORCE PULL UPS TO NO AVAIL. MANUAL EXTEND ATTEMPTS WERE FRUITLESS AS WELL. A WHEELS UP LANDING WAS COMPLETED ON RUNWAY 04 AT CHIPPEWA VALLEY REGIONAL AIRPORT, EAU CLAIRE, WI. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FUSELAGE, DUE TO SCRAPING ON THE PAVED RUNWAY. THERE WAS NO FIRE AND NO INJURIES. PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION REVEALED A BROKEN RIGHT GEAR DOOR HINGE, PREVENTING THE LANDING GEAR FROM OPERATING. THE WEATHER REPORTED BY THE PILOT WAS, CLEAR AND WIND LIGHT FROM THE NORTH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI96LA127](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI96LA127), Mar 29, 1996: Socata TBM-700 (N292RG), Eau Claire, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: fatigue fracture and subsequent failure of the gear door hinge bracket.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
