## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE PERFORMING A FULL STOP LANDING IN A STRONG CROSSWIND THE STUDENT PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE RUNWAY ON THE RIGHT SIDE, IMPACTED A DITCH AND NOSED OVER COMING TO REST INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW96LA160](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW96LA160), Apr 3, 1996: Cessna 172K (N84262), Danville, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: the student pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind. Factors were the crosswind and the soft terrain.

## Other reports on N84262 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19770910034739A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19770910034739A), Sep 10, 1977: Cessna 172K (N84262), Warrenton, DC, Substantial damage. Winds gusting to 15KTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
