## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: INVESTIGATED INCIDENT INVOLVING ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE ON YAKOVLEV 52, N52BG THAT OCCURRED WHILE IT WAS PARKED AT ITS RAMP TIE DOWN AREA. FOUND THAT RESIDUAL FUEL THAT NORMALLY DRIPS FROM THE CARBURETOR INTO THE AIR INTAKE DURING ENGINE SHUTDOWN HAD BEEN BLOWN ONTO THE RIGHT ENGINE EXHAUST PIPE, IGNITING THE FUEL AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF RESIDUAL OIL IN THE LOWER ENGINE COWL. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED WITHIN SECONDS OF IGNITION, AND ONLY MINOR PAINT DAMAGE WAS INCURRED. INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT REVEALED NO DAMAGE TO ANY FLUID LINES, ELECTRICAL WIRING OR OTHER ENGINE PARTS OR COMPONENTS.
