## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 4/14/96, N3949W, A PIPER AIRCRAFT MODEL PA-31, EXECUTED AN APPROACH FOR LANDING, RUNWAY 26 (CXL). THE AIRCRAFT LANDED GEAR-UP. THE PILOT AND FOUR PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED AND THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE. THE PILOT STATES THAT SHORTLY FOLLOWING HIS TURN TO A ONE MILE FINAL, HE NOTICED RUNWAY TRAFFIC MOVING VERY SLOWLY. HE ELECTED TO KEEP HIS GEAR RETRACTED FOR A POSSIBLE GO-AROUND. HE FURTHER STATES THE TRAFFIC CLEARED THE ACTIVE RUNWAY SOONER THAN HE EXPECTED AND HE HASTILY RESUMED THE APPROACH FOR LANDING; HOWEVER, HE FAILED TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR. THIS INCIDENT DID NOT INVOLVE A NMAC OR A PILOT DEVIATION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
