## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA96LA122](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA96LA122), Apr 18, 1996: Grumman G-164A (N4238), Edison, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: Failure of the mounting studs for the No. 4 cylinder, which resulted in separation of the cylinder and loss of engine power. The lack of suitable terrain for a forced landing was a related factor.

## Other reports on N4238 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19780327006349A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780327006349A), Mar 27, 1978: Gulstm G164C (N4238), Hudson, IL, Substantial damage. During high speed taxi main gear fell into ditch caused by meltinow.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
