## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE PILOT, GEORGE MATEY, HAD BEEN DOING SOME FLYING CLOSE TO THE AIRPORT AND LANDED ON RUNWAY 26 AT N79. THE INITIAL TOUCHDOWN AND LANDING WAS 200' FROM THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 26. THE LANDING WAS "NEAR PERFECT", ACCORDING TO AN EYE-WITNESS WHO OBSERVED THE LANDING. THE WIND WAS STRAIGHT DOWN THE RUNWAY AT 10-12 KNOTS WITH GUSTS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A THREE-POINT ATTITUDE ROLLING DOWN THE RUNWAY, AND ABOUT 2000' AFTER TOUCHDOWN A WIND GUST CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO COME OFF OF THE RUNWAY SURFACE. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AGAIN, IT WAS A HARD LANDING CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WHEEL AND THE AIRCRAFT THEN VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY IN A LEFT TURN. IT CAME TO REST IN A SHALLOW DITCH, DAMAGING THE MAIN GEAR AND SHATTERING THE WOODEN PROPELLER. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
