## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE ON 04/21/96, AT 39,000 FEET, ON AN IFR FLIGHT FROM ALBUQUERQUE, NM TO TETERBORO, NJ, THE CREW NOTICED A DROP IN OIL PRESSURE OF THE RIGHT HAND ENGINE. AT THE SAME TIME, THEY NOTICED FUMES IN THE COCKPIT. THEY SHUT OFF THE RIGHT HAND BLEED AIR VALVE, VERIFIED THE FUMES STOPPED, THEN SECURED THE RIGHT HAND ENGINE. THE CREW DIVERTED TO SPRINGFIELD, IL WHERE THEY LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE TWO CREWMEMBERS AND ONE PASSENGER SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THE CREW DID NOT DECLARE AN EMERGENCY. THE RIGHT HAND ENGINE HAD MAINTENANCE PERFORMED THREE FLIGHT HOURS PREVIOUSLY AND THE #3 AIR/OIL SEAL HAD BEEN REPLACED. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FOUND EVIDENCE THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE AREA OF THE #3 SEAL. THE #1 SEAL WAS FOUND TO BE DETERIORATED WITH SOME OIL SEEPAGE. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL BELIEVED THAT THE #1 SEAL WAS ALLOWING AIR LEAKAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
