## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: DURING VFR CRUISE FROM FARIBAULT, MN TO SLAYTON, MN PILOT OBSERVED A DECREASE IN OIL PRESSURE. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND AT A CLOSER AIRPORT - MANKATO - THAN HIS DESTINATION BUT ENGINE FAILED. PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON A TOWNSHIP HIGHWAY 5 MILES EAST OF MANKATO AIRPORT, NEAR MADISON LAKE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES NOR WAS THE AIRCRAFT DAMAGED. LOSS OF ENGINE OIL WAS PROBABLY THROUGH THE PROP GOVERNOR WHICH I OBSERVED THE CONTROL HEAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE GOV. BODY DUE APPARENTLY TO AN IMPROPERLY SECURED LOCKING DEVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
