## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 27, 1996, AT 0930 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A BEECH 135, REGISTERED TO AND OPERATED BY A PRIVATE OWNER, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED FOLLOWING A LOSS OF CONTROL DURING LANDING AT SMITH FIELD, SILOAM SPRINGS, ARKANSAS. THE PRIVATE PILOT AND THE TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED FOR THE PERSONAL FLIGHT CONDUCTED UNDER TITLE 14 CFR PART 91 AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE LOCAL FLIGHT DEPARTED AT 0830, APPROXIMATELY ONE (1) HOUR BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. THE PILOT REPORTED TO AN FAA INSPECTOR THAT UPON TOUCHDOWN WITH A CROSSWIND, THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED AND EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE SIDE, DAMAGING THE WINGS, LANDING GEAR, AND PROPELLER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW96LA196](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW96LA196), Apr 27, 1996: Beech A35 (N32P), Siloam Springs, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind. The crosswind was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
