## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UNABLE LAND AIRPORT. VECTOR OBTAINED FOR APPROACH. LOST POWER ON APPROACH DUE FUEL EXHAUSTION. LANDED SHORT. (-23) AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATED ON A COMPOSITE FLIGHT PLAN, IFR/VFR, AND INTENDED TO LAND AT BMT AIRPORT. DUE TO EXISTING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND BMT VOR BEING OUT OF SERVICE, THE PILOT REQUESTED RADAR VECTOR AND AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH TO BPT AIRPORT AFTER ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE BMT AIRPORT IN VFR CONDITION. THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE LOST POWER DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH. AIRPLANE LANDED SHORT OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW96TA186](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW96TA186), Apr 28, 1996: Cessna T210N (N9403Y), Beaumont, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: Fuel exhaustion due to the pilot's failure to refuel. A factor was the lack of suitable terrain for the forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
