## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LOST CONTROL LANDING. NOSE PITCHED UP. AIRCRAFT STALLED. NOSED INTO GROUND AND BURNED. (-23) LOSS OF CONTROL ON LANDING RESULTED IN AIRCRAFT PITCHING NOSE UP, STALLING, AND CRASHING IN NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE. AIRCRAFT CAUGHT FIRE ON IMPACT AND EXPLODED SECONDS AFTER PILOT AND (1) PASSENGER WERE PULLED FROM BURNING WRECKAGE. ON SCENE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: ENGINE APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN DEVELOPING POWER. AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO HAVE FLIGHT CONTROL CONTINUITY; DUE TO SEVERE FIRE DAMAGE VARIOUS CABLES WERE MELTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD96LA070](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD96LA070), May 3, 1996: Bellanca BL17-31ATC (N2CW), Wauseon, OH, destroyed. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain control of the aircraft which resulted in an inadvertent stall while on short final approach to land.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
