## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AFTER LANDING, DURING ROLLOUT, LEFT MAIN GEAR FAILED AND FOLDED. A/C SLID 675 FEET ON RWY CENTERLINE. MINOR DAMAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF A/X AND LEFT WING FLOAT. INVESTIGATION SHOWS THAT THE G21A LANDING GEAR BOLTS IN QUESTION, P/N 12646 ARE SPECIAL BOLTS, AND ARE DESIGNED TO SHEAR. THESE THREE BOLTS ARE DESIGNED TO SHEAR UNDER EXCESSIVE LOADS AS PER GRUMMAN MAINTENANCE MANUAL DURING BEECHING OPERATIONS, POSSIBLE SIDELOADS DURING WHEEL LANDINGS. AFTER INSPECTION OF AIRCRAFT ALL SIX BOLTS, P/N 12646, HAVE BEEN REPLACED. BOTH L/M & R/M LANDING GEAR ARE NOW SERVICEABLE. THIS INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
