## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: NOSE GEAR DID NOT LOCK DOWN, IT COLLAPSED ON LANDING. THE LOWER NOSE, NOSE GEAR DOORS, AND BOTH PROPELLERS WERE DAMAGED. THE PILOT MANAGED TO LOCK MAINS AFTER A LOT OF HAND PUMPING, BUT THE NOSE WOULD NOT LOCK EVEN AFTER USING BLOW-DOWN BOTTLE. TOWER CONFIRMED NOSE GEAR WAS TRAILING. THE AIRCRAFT RECORDS WERE REVIEWED ON 05-17-96. THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN PLACED ON JACKS AND THE NOSE GEAR FAILED TO LOCK DOWN THE THIRD TIME OUT OF THREE GEAR CYCLES. NO HYDRAULIC LEAKS OR MECHANICAL FAILURES FOUND AS OF THIS TIME. NOTE: THE ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE GEAR WITH THE BLOW-DOWN BOTTLE FAILED BECAUSE THE HANDLE WAS NOT PULLED HARD ENOUGH TO PUNCTURE THE DISCHARGE DISK. THE BOTTLE NEVER DISCHARGED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
