## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 05/31/96 AT APPROXIMATELY 1030Z TIME, A BEECH BE-90-C90 AIRCRAFT (N115KU) DEPARTED LAWRENCE MUNICIPAL (LWC) AIRPORT, KANSAS IN ROUTE TO KANSAS CITY DOWN TOWN (MKC) AIRPORT, MISSOURI. ON APPROACH TO LAND AT MKC, PILOT ROBERT L. CUSTER HAD A LANDING GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT INDICATION. THE PILOT NOTED THAT THERE WAS NO GREEN LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR THE LEFT MAIN GEAR TO INDICATE A SAFE DOWN AND LOCK CONDITION. (THE PILOT REPORTED NOT HAVING A RED UNSAFE LIGHT INDICATION FOR THE LANDING GEAR.) THE PILOT PROCEEDED TO NOTIFY MKC TOWER OF THE SITUATION AND CONDUCTED A FLY-BY THE TOWER TO VERIFY THAT ALL GEAR WAS DOWN. AN EMERGENCY LANDING WAS DECLARED WITH EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT ON STANDBY. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. ON EXAMINATION, EXECUTIVE BEECH (AKGR) FOUND A BROKEN INDICATING WIRE ON THE LEFT MAIN GEAR. THE WIRE WAS REPAIRED AND SEVERAL LANDING GEAR RETRACTION TESTS WERE ACCOMPLISHED WITH SATISFACTORY LANDING GEAR INDICATIONS. A MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT (FAA FORM 8010-4) HAS BEEN SUBMITTED. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED. INCIDENT NO. CE96IGA0071.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
