## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 6/2/96, AT APPROXIMATELY 1545 UTC, MR. STEVE ROWLAND (NO CERTIFICATE) ACTED AS PILOT-IN-COMMAND OF N942SR FROM GAA AIRPORT NEAR GUTTENBERG, IOWA. AFTER A TAKEOFF TO THE SOUTH AND WHILE IN A LEFT DOWNWIND, THE ENGINE LOST POWER. MR. ROWLAND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER ABOUT 50' FROM SHORE OF ABLE ISLAND ON WHICH THE AIRPORT IS LOCATED. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND MR. ROWLAND WAS NOT INJURED. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
