## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON SUNDAY, JUNE 2, 1996, JULIA RITZ (PIC) ALONG WITH PETER NAGY (PASSENGER) FLEW FROM OCEAN ISLE, NC (60J) TO BRUNSWICK COUNTY (SUT) TO GET FUEL. RITZ WAS IN THE RIGHT SEAT AND NAGY IS HER INSTRUCTOR. HOWEVER, THIS WAS NOT A TRAINING FLIGHT. WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND WINDS WERE CALM. RITZ MADE A NORMAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 5 AT SUT WITH NO NOTICE OF ANY PROBLEM. THE MAIN GEAR TOUCHED DOWN NORMAL AND AS THE NOSE GEAR WAS LOWERED, THE NOSE GEAR BUCKLED ALLOWING THE PROP TO STRIKE THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A STOP ON THE BROKEN NOSE STRUT WITH ONLY OBVIOUS DAMAGE TO THE STRUT AND PROP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
