## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

OIL ON WINDSHIELD VIBRATION. RETURNED, TOO HIGH. TRIED GO AROUND. SICK ENGINE QUIT. OLD P LEADS SHORTED MAGS. (-23) THE AIRCRAFT WITH TWO PERSONS ABOARD, EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT ENGINE ROUGHNESS, DESCRIBED BY THE OWNER AS A SPARK PLUG CUTTING OUT. DURING THE LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOO HIGH AND WHEN POWER WAS APPLIED FOR A GO-AROUND, THE ENGINE DID NOT FULLY RESPOND. A TURN WAS MADE IN ATTEMPT TO REACH THE FIELD, BUT THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED ON A NURSERY OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE INVESTIGATION DISCLOSED THAT BOTH MAGNETO "P" LEADS HAD DETERIORATED INTERNALLY. THE LEFT "P" LEAD WOULD INTERMITTENTLY SHORT OUT AGAINST THE SHIELDING WHERE THE WIRE INSULATION HAD BROKEN AWAY. THE "P" LEADS APPEARED TO BE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
