AFTER NORMAL APPROACH TO TOUCHDOWN, THE STRUCTURAL ATTACHING BOLT FOR THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR SPRING GAVE WAY. THE AIRPLANE FLIPPED ONTO ITS BACK CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE TAIL SECTION, COCKPIT, AND TWISTED/BENT THE FUSELAGE FRAME.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW96LA241](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW96LA241), Jun 8, 1996: Weatherly 620B (N2004L), Dumas, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the right main gear torque link during landing roll as a result of its improper assembly by maintenance personnel.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
