## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED BY MCDONNELL DOUGLAS CORPORATION AND FLOWN BY A MCDONNELL DOUGLAS TEST PILOT PERFORMING AEROBATIC MANEUVERS UNDER THE TERMS OF A WAIVER ISSUED BY THE ST. LOUIS FSDO. DURING THE SECOND SEQUENCE OF PRACTICE MANEUVERS FLOWN ON THIS DATE, THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT RECOVER FROM A 1/2 CUBAN-8 MANEUVER AND IMPACTED OPEN GROUND IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE FROM THE APPROACH END OF ALN RUNWAY 11, KILLING THE PILOT. IT NOW APPEARS THE AIRCRAFT'S TWO ENGINE WERE PRODUCING POWER AT THE TIME OF GROUND IMPACT. THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SAFETY BOARD (NTSB) ASSUMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR INVESTIGATING THIS ACCIDENT ON JUNE 24, 1996.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
