## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: APPROXIMATELY FORTY MILES OUT EN-ROUTE TO ALB, PILOT TURNED ON WEATHER RADAR. APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MINUTES LATER, PILOT SMELLED SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. CREW FOLLOWED EMERGENCY PROCEDURES AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT ON RWY 1 AT ALB. AFTER PULLING ON TO TAXIWAY, PASSENGERS WERE EVACUATED AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE LOW MODE RESISTOR FOR THE LEFT WINDSHIELD WIPER SHORTED AND BURNT. MAINTENANCE REPLACED RESISTOR, LEFT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR, AND GEARBOX. THIS MATTER IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
