## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-16) INITIAL INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE PILOT EXECUTED A STEEP LEFT TURN IN PREPARATION FOR LANDING, AND FAILED TO RECOVER BEFORE STRIKING A BLUFF ABOUT 20 FEET BELOW THE CREST. REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT LOGBOOKS TO DATE DO NOT SHOW AN ANNUAL INSPECTION BEING PERFORMED WITHIN THE PAST 12 CALENDAR MONTHS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA96FA133](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA96FA133), Jun 21, 1996: Bellanca 8KCAB (N57514), Pomeroy, WA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate clearance with the surrounding terrain while maneuvering to land. A factor was the rising terrain conditions.

## Other reports on N57514 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19900505013939I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900505013939I), May 5, 1990: Bbavia 8KCAB (N57514), Pomeroy, WA, Minor damage. Engine failed as pilot attempted a go around. Landed in field and flipped over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
