## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: I EXAMINED THE INCIDENT SITE, INTERVIEWED MR. RAY BLOCK, FIXED BASE OPERATOR OF RAY'S FLYING SERVICE, AND ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES, MR. JAMES FRANCOIS, CONCERNING THE PROPELLER STRIKE OF N7241D. (SEE ENCLOSED STATEMENTS AND PHOTOS). AFTER CLOSE EXAMINATION OF THE INCIDENT SITE, IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE TRAFFIC ADVISORY SIGNS IN THEIR PRESENT FORM, ARE A HAZARD TO TAXIING AIRCRAFT. THE SIGNS NEED TO BE CONSTRUCTED OF MATERIALS WHICH WOULD NOT BE DETRIMENTAL TO AIRCRAFT IF IMPACTED. THE ROADS AND TAXIWAYS ARE NOT CLEARLY DEFINED, AND IN SOME CASES, A ROAD IS NEEDED TO REACH A TAXIWAY. TAXI FROM THE TIE DOWN RAMP TO THE ROAD/TAXIWAY NECESSITATES A LITTLE CLIMB OVER A HUMP FOR ENTRY. IN THE CASE OF TAIL DRAGGERS, THE NOSE ALSO RISES MORE. RESTRICTING FURTHER VISIBILITY FORWARD. I RECOMMEND SIGNS BECOME MORE VISIBLE BY PLACEMENT OR SIZE, AND BE CONSTRUCTED OF MATERIALS THAT WOULD NOT DAMAGE AN AIRCRAFT IF IMPACTED BY A TAXIING AIRCRAFT. I FIND NO FAR'S VIOLATED IN THIS INCIDENT. ASI CONTACTED THE AIRPORT OPERATOR WITH THE PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE SIGNS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
