## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FLL, ENROUTE TO OCEAN REEF AIRPORT. UPON REACHING OCEAN REEF AIRPORT AT APPROXIMATELY 12:04 P.M. LOCAL TIME AND PREPARING TO LAND, THE PILOT HEARD AN UNUSUAL NOISE COMING FROM #2 ENGINE. THE PILOT THEN DECIDED NOT TO LAND ON OCEAN REEF AND GAINED ALTITUDE. AFTER GAINING SOME ALTITUDE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, HE THEN SHUT DOWN #2 ENGINE AFTER NOTICING "0" OIL PRESSURE AND HIGH EGT. THE PILOT CONTINUED WITH THE FLIGHT AND LANDED AT FLL WITH #2 ENGINE INOPERATIVE. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE FLEW BACK TO FLL BECAUSE THE MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS ON HIS AIRCRAFT IS BASED AT FLL. CLOSER INSPECTION REVEALED THAT #2 ENGINE WAS VERY HARD TO TURN AND THE TURBINE WAS RUBBING THE ENGINE CASE. ENGINE IS TO BE REMOVED AND SENT TO GARETT AIR-RESEARCH FOR TEAR DOWN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
