## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH A DEER ON LANDING ROLL AT MANSFIELD AIRPORT (1B9) AT APPROXIMATELY 2105 EDT ON 06/29/96. PILOT HAD ATTEMPTED TO AVOID THE DEER BUT THE ANIMAL STRUCK THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT CAUSED THE AFT FUSELAGE TO SEPARATE AT THE PRODUCTION JOINT APPROXIMATELY TWO FEET FORWARD OF THE TAIL CONE. THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC96LA137](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC96LA137), Jun 30, 1996: Cessna 152 (N48750), Mansfield, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: an animal (deer) that wandered onto the runway. The light condition (at dusk) was a related factor.

## Other reports on N48750 (2)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
