## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM TROY, AL TO DOBBINS AFB, GA. THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND REQUESTED THE NEAREST AIRPORT. THE ENGINE QUIT AND THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT ON CROSSPLAINS ROAD. CROSSPLAINS ROAD IS JUST OFF GA SR 166 APPROXIMATELY 8 MILES EAST OF CARROLLTON, GA. AIRCRAFT WAS LANDED SAFELY WITH NO DAMAGE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE #1 ROD CAP BROKE OFF AND WENT THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE BETWEEN THE #1 AND #2 CYLINDERS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
