## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT LANDED ONG ON WET RUNWAY, SKIDDED OFF END AND FLIPPED OVER. (-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD BOUGHT THE AIRPLANE THE DAY BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. HE STATED THAT THE AIRPORT UPON WHICH HE INTENDED TO LAND (F43) HAD A SMALL THUNDERSTORM OVER IT, SO HE HELD TO THE SOUTHEAST UNTIL IT MOVED AWAY FROM THE AIRPORT. HE STATED THAT HE LANDED LONG ON A WET, 3,000 FOOT RUNWAY (RUNWAY 18) AND SKIDDED APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY INTO A SOFT PILE OF SOIL. HE STATED THE AIRPLANE HAD NEARLY STOPPED WHEN IT STRUCK THE SOIL, AND "SLOWLY" FLIPPED OVER ONTO IT'S BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW96LA301](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW96LA301), Jul 6, 1996: Myers Smythe Sidewinder (N112AM), El Dorado, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to attain the correct touchdown point. Factors were: hydroplaning due to the wet runway, and the berm in the overrun area.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
