## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS ON AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT. ON LANDING THE LEFT BRAKE FAILED AND THE AIRCRAFT RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND STOPPED IN A FOUR FOOT DITCH. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO PROP LANDING GEAR AND FIREWALL BUCKLED. THE BELLY SKIN IS DAMAGED. BRAKE FAILURE CAUSED BY IMPROPERLY FABRICATED AND INSTALLATION OF LEFT BRAKE METAL LINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW96LA295](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW96LA295), Jul 7, 1996: Cessna T210L (N761YL), Terrell, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: the mechanic's improper installation of the left main landing gear brake line, which resulted in chaffing and failure of the brake line, loss of hydraulic fluid, and inoperative brake(s).

## Other reports on N761YL (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19780901021849A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780901021849A), Sep 1, 1978: Cessna 210H (N761YL), Princeton, NJ, Substantial damage

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
