## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RENO FOR LINCOLN, CA. PILOT MOVED GEAR SWITCH TO THE GEAR UP POSITION AND THE GEAR SWITCH LEVER CAME OFF IN HIS HAND. THE GEAR RETRACTED SUCCESSFULLY, WITH NO WAY TO SUBSEQUENTLY EXTEND THE GEAR WITH THE SWITCH. THE PILOT INITIATED THE EMERGENCY EXTENSION SYSTEM, WHICH EXTENDS THE GEAR BY GRAVITY. THE MAIN GEAR EXTENDED, BUT THE NOSE GEAR REMAINED IN THE GEAR WELL. THE PILOT TRIED FOR 1 HR.&45 MIN. TO EXTEND THE NOSE GEAR BY VIOLENT MANEUVERS. THE ATTEMPTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL AND A LANDING WAS MADE WITH THE NOSE GEAR IN THE RETRACTED POSITION. DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER AND ENGINE COWLING OCCURRED AND NO INJURIES WERE INCURRED BY THE PILOT. A FOLLOW UP INVESTIGATION WILL BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE WHY THE SWITCH AND NOSE GEAR FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. THIS REPORT IS CLOSED. INCIDENT DOES NOT INVOLVE A PILOT DEVIATION REPORT FORM 8020.11.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
