## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: JUST ON TOUCHDOWN A FLOCK OF LARGE BIRDS RAN INTO RUNWAY IN FRONT OF AIRCRAFT. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO AVOID BIRDS WHICH HE DID BUT AIRCRAFT WENT OFF RUNWAY INTO PLOWED FIELD AND FLIPPED OVER ON BACK. PILOT WAS COUNSELED THAT IN FUTURE IT WOULD BE BETTER TO RAISE THE NOSE AND HIT BIRDS THAN TO AVOID BUT GO OFF INTO FIELD AND RISK AIRPLANE UPSET.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI96LA234](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI96LA234), Jul 11, 1996: Cessna 172L (N7545G), Vicksburg, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's premature raising of the flaps during a go-around. The presence of birds was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
