## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: PILOT REPORTED THE FOLLOWING: DURING CRUISE AT 1500' HEARD A LOUD NOISE, (THUNK) FOLLOWED BY VIBRATION AND ENGINE STOPPAGE. AN EMERGENCY GEAR UP LANDING WAS MADE IN A LARGE CORN FIELD. AIRCRAFT DAMAGE WAS MINOR. INVESTIGATION DISCLOSED: IT APPEARS THE EXHAUST PIPE BROKE AWAY FROM THE MUFFLER ASSEMBLY AND DEPARTED THROUGH THE PROPELLER. HALF OF ONE PROPELLER BLADE WAS MISSING. THE FUEL PUMP SUCTION LINE WAS SEVERED. ENGINE STOPPAGE WAS PROBABLY DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. THIS AIRCRAFT IS EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT, AMPHIBIAN WITH A REAR MOUNTED ENGINE. NEITHER THE ENGINE AND PROPELLER ARE TYPE CERTIFICATED. THIS OFFICE PLANS NO FURTHER ACTION CONCERNING THIS MATTER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
