## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-16) THE PILOT STATED THAT AN UNSCHEDULED LANDING WAS MADE ON A DRY LAKE BED, BECAUSE HER YOUNG DAUGHTER NEEDED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM. SHE SAID SHE MISJUDGED THE WIND DIRECTION AND LANDED WITH A QUARTERING TAILWIND. DURING THE LANDING ROLL, THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE LEFT WING WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA96LA156](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA96LA156), Jul 12, 1996: Stinson 108-1 (N8692K), Arock, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: failure of the pilot to maintain directional control of the aircraft during the landing, which resulted in an inadvertent ground loop. The tailwind was a related factor.

## Other reports on N8692K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19930927043349I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19930927043349I), Sep 27, 1993: Univar 1081 (N8692K), Salt Lake City, UT, Minor damage. Rough engine. Oil covering windshield. Emergency landing on road. Stuck valve caused a broken rod and stuck piston.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
