NARRATIVE: ON JULY 14, 1996 AT APPROXIMATELY 1250 EDT A SWITZER SGS-2-33A GLIDER MADE AN OFF FIELD LANDING IN TREES ADJACENT TO THE BOB LEE AIRPORT. THE PILOT STATED THAT WHILE DEPARTING ON A NORMAL AERO-TOW TAKEOFF HE EXPERIENCED UNUSUALLY STRONG LIFT AND WAS OUT CLIMBING THE TOW PLANE. FEARING FOULING THE TOW ROPE ON THE TAIL OF THE TOW PLANE HE RELEASED AND ATTEMPTED TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT WITH INSUFFICIENT ALTITUDE.
