## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: INITIAL STATEMENTS FROM THE PILOT, TINA HEMBREE AND ATC PERSONNEL AT FTY TOWER INDICATES THAT N9754B WAS IN THE FTY TRAFFIC PATTERN DOING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS. THE PILOT REQUESTED A FULL STOP LANDING AND WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 26L. MS. HEMBREE REVEALED THAT SHE FORGOT TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR AND CONTINUED THE APPROACH WHICH ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN N9754B LANDING GEAR UP ON RUNWAY 26L. THE GEAR UP LANDING RESULTED IN NO INJURIES AND VERY LITTLE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. DURING MY INTERVIEW WITH MS. HEMBREE, I ASKED THE PASSENGER, MR. STEPHEN T. JAMES IF HE WAS A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND HIS ANSWER WAS" YES". WHEN I ASKED TO SEE HIS CERTIFICATE, HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE THEM ON HIS PERSON AT THE TIME AND THAT HE WAS NOT ACTING AS A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. ON 07/16/96. I CONTACTED MS. HEMBREE TO GET ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND SHE VOLUNTEERED TO TELL ME THAT MR. JAMES WAS ACTING AS A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND THAT HE WAS GIVING HER DUAL INSTRUCTION IN PREPARATION FOR A COMMERCIAL CHECK RIDE. I CONTACTED MR. JAMES AND PRESENTED THE INFORMATION THAT I GOT FROM MS. HEMBREE TO HIM AND HE THEN CONFESSED THAT HE DID NOT GIVE ME THE TRUTH ABOUT THE ROLE THAT HE WAS PLAYING IN THE FLIGHT N9754B INCIDENT CONTINUED. MR. JAMES HAS SUBMITTED A STATEMENT EXPLAINING THE CAUSES OF THE INCIDENT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
