## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 7-16-96 AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FRG AT 0845 ON AN IFR FLIGHT TO MSV. SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WERE EXPERIENCED AND PILOT RETURNED TO FRG WITH LOST COMMUNICATIONS. HIS LANDING GEAR WAS INOPERATIVE SO HE MANUALLY CRANKED DOWN THE LANDING GEAR. DUE TO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS PILOT SAID HE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE BY LIGHTS IF GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED BUT HE LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAW THE MAIN GEAR FULLY EXTENDED. UPON TOUCHDOWN THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. RAYTHEON AIRCRAFT SERVICE INSPECTED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR HAD FAILED. INSPECTION INDICATED THE GEAR WAS NOT CRANKED DOWN ALL THE WAY. FINDINGS: ELECTRICAL FAILURE RESULTED IN LANDING GEAR MALFUNCTIONING. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
