## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI96LA245](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI96LA245), Jul 17, 1996: Piper PA-25-235 (N4997Y), Beltrami, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate preflight planning. Factors in the accident were the pilot's failure to jettison the load and the soft runway overrun area.

## Other reports on N4997Y (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19800904039759A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19800904039759A), Sep 4, 1980: Piper PA25235 (N4997Y), Weeping Water, NE, Substantial damage. Struck wires entering spray area.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
