## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-16) DURING A LANDING ATTEMPT AT PARKLANE AIRPORT, ERIE, COLORADO, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A CHAIN LINK FENCE AND TORE OFF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR AND THE RIGHT MAIN WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY. PILOT ELECTED TO MAKE FINAL LANDING AT JEFFERSON COUNTY AIRPORT, BROOMFIELD, COLORADO BECAUSE OF THE LONGER AND WIDER RUNWAYS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW96LA314](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW96LA314), Jul 22, 1996: Barton Sylkie 1 (N711WB), Erie, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot passenger's failure to maintain clearance from the fence due to his failure to maintain a proper glide path, and the pilot-in-command's failure to take remedial action in a timely fashion.

## Other reports on N711WB (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19780723038849I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780723038849I), Jul 23, 1978: N711WB, Broomfield, CO, Minor damage. Homebuilt pilot builder unable to extend the nose gear. Both bellcrank shafts had failed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
