## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: WHILE APPROACHING TO LAND AT THE TRACY AIRPORT (036) THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO GET A GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATION. PILOT ELECTED TO FLY TO THE STOCKTON AIRPORT (SCK) DUE TO CRASH CREWS BEING AVAILABLE ON THE AIRPORT. PILOT LANDED AIRCRAFT GEAR UP WITH ENGINES STOPPED TO MINIMIZE DAMAGE. DURING THE RETRIEVAL OF THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE RUNWAY IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BOLT HOLDING THE SHIMMY DAMPER ON THE NOSE GEAR WAS THE IMPROPER TYPE AND HAD CAUSED THE NOSE GEAR TO REMAIN IN THE UP POSITION. INVESTIGATION FAILED TO DETERMINE PERSON OR PARTY THAT HAD INSTALLED THIS BOLT. SDR FILED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
