## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT, BEING OPERATED UNDER CFR 14, PART 137, WAS ATTEMPTING A LANDING ON THE HARD SURFACED RUNWAY AT NAPOLEAN, ND. UPON TOUCHDOWN ON THE EXTREME LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, THE PILOT ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER HARD TO THE RIGHT AND ENTER A GROUND LOOP. ON SKIDDING OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO SOFT TURF, THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR BROKE OFF AT THE ATTACH POINT AND ROLLED UNDER THE SKIDDING AIRCRAFT, PUNCTURING THE RIGHT WING FROM THE BOTTOM THROUGH THE TOP. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY THE PILOT AND NO FIRE RESULTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI96LA257](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI96LA257), Jul 29, 1996: Cessna 188 (N5708G), Napoleon, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's improper use of the rudder to correct the airplane's drift to the right. A factor was the pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind.

## Other reports on N5708G (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19800807035059A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19800807035059A), Aug 7, 1980: Cessna A188B (N5708G), Uvalde, TX, Substantial damage. Unskilled in aircraft type. Made hard landing, bounced, ground-looped. Collapsed landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
