## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AIR MIDWEST FLIGHT 5715 DEPARTED KANSAS CITY INT'L (MCI) AT 1445 ENROUTE TO MANHATTAN, KANSAS. THE FLIGHT RETURNED SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF DUE TO A BLEED FAIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SUSPECTED BLEED AIR LEAK. THE BEECH 1900 MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING AT 1449 LOCAL TIME ON JULY 31, 1996, WITH 16 SOULS ON BOARD. THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DUE TO A LOOSE BLEED AIR (EVA) SENSE LINE ON THE NUMBER ONE ENGINE BLEED VALVE. MAINTENANCE TIGHTENED THE EVA LINE FITTING AND LEAK CHECKED THE VALVE. THE BLEED VALVE OPERATION CHECKED GOOD AND THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE. NO DAMAGE WAS EVIDENT AND THE FLIGHT CONTINUED AS SCHEDULED WITH A MINOR DELAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
