## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: N530DC, LEAR 25 FLIGHT DEPARTED PONTIAC, MI (PTK) FOR WASHINGTON D.C. (IAD), DURING CLIMB FROM 33,000 FEET TO 35,000 FEET CREW GOT FIRE WARNING LIGHT ON #2 ENGINE. CREW PUT #1 ENGINE TO IDLE, LIGHT WENT OUT. WHEN AIRCRAFT LATER DESCENDED TO 29,000 FEET, THE FIRE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE FLIGHT CREW INITIATED SHUTDOWN PROCEDURES, FIRED BOTH FIRE BOTTLES, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED AT CLEVELAND WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE CREW DID INITIATE A PASSENGER EVACUATION OF THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. A BAD WIRE SPLICE GOING TO THE LEFT ENGINE FIRE WARNING UNIT WAS FOUND TO BE THE PROBLEM. MAINTENANCE REPLACED THE SPLICE. WARNING SYSTEM TESTED GOOD. END.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
