## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON SEPTEMBER 8, 1996, MENARD, INC., OPERATED BEECHCRAFT MODEL BE-1900, N565C ON A FLIGHT UNDER 14CFR 91. DURING THIS FLIGHT, THE CREW RECEIVED INDICATIONS OF LOW OIL PRESSURE AND HIGH ITT ON THE #2 ENGINE. CREW SHUT DOWN ENGINE AND LANDED AT GARY REGIONAL AIRPORT, GARY, INDIANA (GYY) WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. ENGINE WAS SENT TO PRATT & WHITNEY FOR TEARDOWN WHERE IT WAS REVEALED THE MAIN ENGINE BEARING WAS IN THE PROCESS OF FAILING. THIS ENGINE ONLY HAD 2 TO 3 HOURS SINCE OVERHAUL AND IS BEING INVESTIGATED FURTHER AS TO THE CAUSE. AS OF THIS DATE, THE CAUSE OF THE PREMATURE MAIN BEARING FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. HOWEVER, IT WAS INDICATED THAT IMPROVEMENTS ARE BEING PROPOSED AT THIS TIME. AN M OR D HAS BEEN FILED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
