## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON AUGUST 29, 1996, AT 1625 HOURS LOCAL TIME, A CESSNA 210, N32HD, REGISTERED TO JOHN MITROS OF NORRISTOWN, PA, HAD A GEAR-UP LANDING AT WM. PIPER MEMORIAL AIRPORT (LHV), LOCKHAVEN, PA. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. OUTWARD APPEARANCE INDICATED THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE, AND THE CERTIFICATED PRIVATE PILOT, THE SOLE OCCUPANT, WAS NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT BRADFORD, PA ON AUGUST 29, 1996, AT 1500 HOURS. THE PILOT WAS MAKING A VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 27 AT LOCKHAVEN (LHV). THE LANDING GEAR WAS SELECTED TO THE DOWN POSITION AND GEAR INDICATOR WAS REPORTEDLY VERIFIED. THE LANDING WAS SMOOTH UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED ONTO THE RUNWAY STRIKING THE PROPELLER AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE BELLY OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT STATED THAT UPON A HASTY DEPARTURE FROM THE AIRCRAFT, HE NOTICED THE HEADSET CORD ENTANGLED AROUND THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS JACKED, AND THE GEAR HANDLE WAS FOUND IN THE DOWN (NOT NEUTRAL) POSITION. EXTENSION WAS ACHIEVED WITH THE HAND PUMP. THE HYDRAULIC PUMP WAS REMOVED AND INSPECTED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
