## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: CAPTAIN STONE STATED HE WAS MAKING A VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 17R AT LUBBOCK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. IT WAS A CLEAR NIGHT AND HE HAD THE RUNWAY IN SIGHT AT 20+ MILES. THIS RUNWAY IS NOT SERVED WITH ANY SORT OF VASI BUT DOES HAVE A PUBLISHED ILS APPROACH. THE TAIL SKID MADE MARKS ABOUT 10 FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD AND CONTINUED APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET BEYOND THE THRESHOLD THIS DAMAGED THE TAILSKID, DRAINMAST AND UHF ANTENNA. THE CREW WAS GROUNDED BY THE CO. CHIEF PILOT AND GIVEN A SIMULATOR CHECK ON 9/3/96 WHICH THEY COMPLETED SATISFACTORILY. THE CAPTAIN GIVEN A LINE CHECK ON 9/5/96 WHICH WAS ALSO SATISFACTORY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
