## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON SEPT. 06, 1996, AT APPROX. 0900L, AT EL MONTE AIRPORT, CA. A CESSNA CITATION JET T25-006, N106CJ, SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE, WHEN THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR (LMLG) COLLAPSED AFTER LANDING ON RWY 19. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE LMLG REAR SUPPORT TRUNNION BEARING APPEARS TO HAVE FROZEN IN PLACE, CAUSING THE AFT TRUNNION PIN TO SEVER THE ROLL PIN. WITH THE ROLL PIN SEVERED, THIS RESULTED IN THE TRUNNION PIN MIGRATING OUT OF THE TRUNNION BEARING AND CAUSING THE COLLAPSE OF THE LMLG. THE LEFT WING EXTENDED FLAP ASSEMBLY PREVENTED THE OUTBOARD WING FROM CONTACTING THE GROUND. DAMAGE WAS ISOLATED TO THE LEFT CENTER WING BOND PANEL SKINS, THE LMLG, AND THE LEFT FLAP. WITHIN 6 DAYS OF THIS INCIDENT, CESSNA HAS ISSUED A MANDATORY SERVICE LETTER ALERT 525-32-11 THAT PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSPECTIONS OF THE MLG ROLL PINS TO ENSURE THE TRUNNION PINS HAVE NOT MIGRATED FWD OR AFT OF THE TRUNNION SUPPORT BEARINGS. ALSO SERVICE BULLETIN 525-32-08 WAS ISSUED FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE EXISTING MLG TRUNNION BEARINGS WITH NEW SELF-LUBRICATING BEARINGS WHICH ARE SEALED. THIS OFFICE CONSIDERS THIS INCIDENT CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
