## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: DLH437 DEPARTED IAH FROM RUNWAY 14 AND RECEIVED RADAR VECTORS SOUTH TO AVOID WEATHER WEST OF HOUSTON. FLEW AND CLIMBED ALONG GULF OF MEXICO COASTLINE HEADING 220. OBTAINED AMENDED CLEARANCE TO CORPUS CHRISTI (CRP), TO THREE RIVERS (THX), TO CRIMP INTERSECTION, TO SAN ANTONIO (SAT), J-131 TO DFW. FLEW 280 KIAS (BEST TURBULENCE AIRSPEED FOR THE A340) THROUGHOUT THIS FLIGHT. ATTAINED FL280, AS CLEARED, WHEN WEST OF CRP. CAPT. PERMITTED A "SHORT SERVICE" BY THE CABIN ATTENDANTS BETWEEN CRP AND THX BECAUSE THE FLIGHT WAS SMOOTH. APPROX. 30 MIN. AFTER TAKEOFF, BETWEEN CRP AND THX, THE CAPT. ANNOUNCED ON THE PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM (PA) FOR THE CABIN ATTENDANTS TO TAKE THEIR SEATS. THE FLIGHT CREW OBTAINED A CLEARANCE TO FLY A HEADING OF 310 DEGREES TO AVOID WEATHER AND FOR APPROX. 5 MINUTES, THE FLIGHT WAS SOMEWHAT TURBULENT. THEN THE FLIGHT WAS SMOOTH AGAIN FOR A SIMILAR PERIOD OF TIME WITH NO INDICATION ON RADAR OF TURBULENT CONDITIONS AHEAD. SUDDENLY THERE WAS STRONG TURBULENCE AT APPROX. 52 MINUTES AFTER TAKEOFF, APPROX. 30 MILES NORTH OF SAT, NEAR THE HENLY INTERSECTION. SEVERAL PASSENGERS, INCLUDING 3 "LAP CHILDREN" (INFANTS), WERE TOSSED ABOUT BY THE TURBULENCE AND SLIGHTLY INJURED. THE CABIN ATTENDANTS AIDED THE INJURED PASSENGERS UNTIL LANDING AT DFW. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
