## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE PILOT OF THIS FAMILY OWNED COMMANCHE WAS INVOLVED IN A GEAR UP LANDING. THE FLIGHT DEPARTED FROM THE HEMET-RYAN AIRPORT FOR A PLEASURE FLIGHT TO THE BIG BEAR CITY AIRPORT. THE INSTRUMENT RATED PRIVATE PILOT WITH ONE PASSENGER ON BOARD STATED THAT THE FLIGHT WAS UNEVENTFUL UNTIL THE LANDING. VISIBILITY WAS EXCELLENT, AND WINDS WERE CALM. IT HAD BEEN THIS PILOT'S PROCEDURE TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR WHEN ON DOWNWIND, AND TO RECHECK LANDING GEAR SAFE WHEN ON FINAL. ON THIS FLIGHT, THE PILOT DEVIATED FROM HIS NORMAL PROCEDURES, AND DID NOT MAKE HIS CUSTOMARY CHECKS. PILOT SAID HE HAD NO EXCUSE FOR NEGLECTING THE GEAR CHECKS. WHEN THE GEAR HORN SOUNDED ON FINAL, HE ASSUMED IT WAS A STALL WARNING, AND ADDED A LITTLE POWER WHICH SILENCED THE HORN. WHEN THE HORN CAME ON AGAIN JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN, PILOT AGAIN IGNORED THE HORN, ASSUMING IT WAS A STALL WARNING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE AIRCRAFT PROPELLER AND BELLY SKIN. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
