## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATES THAT HE WAS IN A 2 FOOT HOVER DOING GPS WORK FOR DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR. WHEN HE MOVED FORWARD THE LOW WIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM STRUCK A MANGROVE CAUSING THE HELICOPTER TO CONTACT THE GROUND AND ROLL OVER. PILOT WAS GIVEN A COMPETENCY CHECK RIDE BY DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR ON 10/06/96 WITH SATISFACTORY RESULTS. PILOT COUNSELLED. "CLOSED".

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA96TA236](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA96TA236), Sep 30, 1996: Bell 206B III (N2113Z), Flamingo, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: the wire strike protection guide became entangled in a mangrove branch which resulted in helicopter control not being maintained.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
